A man gets to 9 years for raping and impregnating a minor

The Thrimshing dungkhag court in Trashigang sentenced a man to nine years in prison for raping and impregnating a 13-year-old student. The incident happened in Kangpar Gewog in August last year.

The court also sentenced five other people to one month in prison. They were charged for trying to settle the case internally.

In another rape case, the dungkhag court sentenced a man to three years imprisonment for allegedly raping a 45-year-old woman on March 17this year.

The woman was herding cattle along the Thrimshing-Kangpar farm road when the accused raped her. The court has also ordered the accused to pay Nu. 3000 as compensation to the victim.
