Farm roads serve as a lifeline for farmers living in far-flung villages of the country. The benefit it brought is immeasurable, yet affect on the environment in every case and damages to private properties in some case have been part of the developmental activities.
More than a hundred households in Rijoong village under Jamkhar Gewog of Trashi Yangtse reaped the benefits of a 1.8 km farm road constructed last year. But for one family, it has also become a cause of concern. The farm road which runs just next to their home has left the soil unstable, resulting in constant landslides. Continuous rainfall in the summer has made the situation worse.
