Bhutan received an additional Rs. 1.2 billion from the government of India as a grant to the government’s Economic Stimulus Plan (ESP).
The cheque was handed over by the Indian Ambassador to Bhutan, V.P Haran to the Finance Minister, Namgay Dorji, yesterday.
With this, Bhutan has received a total of Rs.3.7 billion of the committed Rs.5 billion so far.
To boost the country’s economy, a total of Nu. 4.2 billion will be used in the current fiscal year.
Under the package, the government will inject Nu. 2.1 Billion in the financial sectors. Another 1.9 billion will be kept as revolving fund.
Besides, a total of Nu. 200 million will be injected in the special support scheme. Of which, 110 million will be allocated to support pre-employment, 30 million to support higher education and 60 million will be for senior citizen.
