Seven cows were killed and three injured the day before yesterday by a bear in Bueltikha, Nagya Gewog in Paro.

According to a forest official, it’s apple season and bears come down to feed on it. Moreover, he said cattle are roaming freely in the forest without anyone tending to, making them easy targets. The forest officials of Bueltikha advised the villagers to confine their livestock in their own sheds for safety. There are over 900 households in the area.

Few forest officials from the Paro Division’s Rescue team were deputed to safeguard and help the farmers as soon as they got the report of the bear attack.
