A 17-year-old girl, studying in class ten in one of the schools under Thimphu Dzongkhag, died after prefabricated concrete windows fell on her yesterday.
The incident occurred towards the evening when the deceased was returning to hostel from the classroom. The windows were kept in the school campus for school’s ongoing construction works.
She was rushed to the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referal Hospital, but it was too late.
An official from the Thimphu district education sector said the education sector and the concerned school administration have briefed the students on safety concerns every day as a part of the daily announcements.
The police are investigating the case.
