Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay led the mass cleaning campaign in the capital yesterday.

It is to commemorate the 10th anniversary of His Majesty The King’s accession to the golden throne. Prime Minister walked along the streets of core Thimphu Thromde and Vegetable market and cleaned the areas.

Amidst cleaning, Prime Minister greeted volunteers who were also cleaning the places and encouraged them to replicate in future.

Prime Minister exhorted capital’s residents to fulfil His Majesty’s dream of clean Bhutan.

“On this momentous day, keeping of our country clean and beautiful is the most precious gift to His Majesty”, remarked the Prime Minister.

Seeing Prime Minister collecting trashes, residents felt motivated to keep their locality free of litter.

“It is heartening at the same time inspiring to see our Prime Minister thoroughly cleaning the mess,” said Kinley Tshering, one of the residents.

Prime Minister is overwhelmed with cooperation of people from all sections of the society in cleaning the country’s capital city.

In the rest of the districts too, dzongkhags officials and people from all walks of life carried out mass cleaning campaign in their vicinities.

Prior to the cleanup campaign, Dzongdags and communities in respective dzongkhags offered prayers and butter lamps for the long life of His Majesty The King. They also offered Zhabten to His Majesty.

Dzongdags also distributed Soelra from His Majesty to the masses.
