raa-conducts-advocacy-program-for-monksFor the first time ever, the Royal Audit Authority (RAA) is creating awareness for the monks on proper procedures of auditing.

Over 60 monks including the Lam Neten of Paro Rabdey attended the Auditing advocacy and sensitisation programme, which ended in Paro on Thursday.

They also learnt the mandate and jurisdiction of auditing.

“Since we are the ones who will be auditing the dratshang’s accounts, it is better when they know the processes well to avoid problems in the future,” said RAA’s Auditor General, Tshering Kezang.

Local officials, schools, and other institutes also took part in the program.

The participants also learnt auditing process, problems and challenges and tips on how to avoid or solve them.

According to the Auditor General, this is another means towards bringing down corruption.

“I am not saying that there is a lot of corruption, but this is a means to bring down corrupt practices, so all the auditors need to work together to support.”

This is the second phase of the programme, with the first one held in Haa, earlier this month.

The RAA hopes to cover all 20 dzongkhags within a year.
