Home ministry and consultants from Japan will come up with guidelines to construct Bhutanese houses that are earthquake resilience, in a few years time.
There are no recorded data to know the magnitude of earthquake a traditional Bhutanese house can withstand.
To test its firmness, the stakeholders built a sample house three months ago.
The findings from the test are expected to generate database for rammed earth buildings.
Home ministry’s Engineer, Phuntsho Wangmo said they realised the database for rammed earth buildings after the country experienced earthquakes in 2009 and 2011.
During the two earthquakes, majority of the damages in the country were rammed earth buildings.
After the adequate tests have been conducted, the ministry will come up with the guidelines.
