ViralWechat-EarthquakeMessage Dungsey Garab Rinpoche’s personal assistant said the message that went viral on a popular social networking application, Wechat was not from Rinpoche.

“There is a high chance of earthquake around 12 to 1 AM, tonight. So be alert. Message forwarded by Dungsey Garab Rinpoche…” reads the message.

“People should be careful about such rumours,” said the personal assistant.

Another viral message, similar to the one that is being shared today, had created panic among the people in the capital, yesterday. Many had come outside their homes with all the bags packed, ready to run, if an earthquake strikes.

Chief Seismologist, Dowchu Drukpa said there is no way and means to predict earthquake and it is difficult to tell the exact time and location of earthquake.

“People should not buy any of those rumours.” Instead, he said people should prepare as Bhutan is susceptible to earthquake in the near future.
