Thimphu Police detained a 38-year-old man on Sunday for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl child. The suspect was arrested after the mother had lodged a complaint with the police on Sunday.

Sources say the girl had told the mother about the incident after 25 days. The incident is said to have happened at Taba in Thimphu.

Forensic officials say no physical injuries were found on the girl’s body.
