I support your decision- PM tells people Hungrel and WangchangThe Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay visited Hungrel and Wangchang- the two gewogs in Paro, discontent with the thromde boundary demarcation, yesterday. Lyonchhen said he fully supports their decision.

More than 300 acres of wetland of Hungrel and Wangchang come under the new thromde boundary.

Lyonchhen said he was surprised and, at the same time, proud, that the residents of the two gewogs wanted to retain their wetland whereas people elsewhere would want it otherwise.

“If you think that the wetlands under the thromde will be compulsorily converted to dry land, you are mistaken. And if you still feel that you cannot trust the government, and want a legal agreement to support it,” Lyonchhen said referring to protected agricultural land provision under the Land Act.

The Prime Minister also reminded the people to make use of the opportunity to decide what is best for them.

The parliament’s special joint committee has recommended that the government discuss Paro’s Dzongkhag Thromde issue with the Dzongkhag Tshogdu and submit a report during the next session.
