Pema Yoedling TShogpa Suspended- SarpangDTThe Tshogpa of Pema Yoedling Chiwog under Serzhong Gewog in Sarpang has been suspended following complaints from the people.

It has been now two months since Pema Yoedling Chiwog does not have a tshogpa.

A tshogpa plays an important role in the chiwog, from disseminating information to settling disputes.

Despite that, residents of Pema Yoedling Chiwog filed a complaint against the tshogpa, for failing to perform his duties.

After discussion in the Gewog Tshogde, the issue was forwarded to the Dzongkhag Tshogdu.

The tshogdu directed the gewog to discuss the matter in the gewog and decide the course of action. It was also asked to submit a report of the decision to the Dzongkhag. The Gup of Serzhong said he had written a letter to the Dzongkhag and is waiting for the reply.

“There were about 36 people. Not even one of them wanted him. They put up a petition to remove him and elect a new one stating that he is not doing his duty,” says Sangay Yonten, Serzhong Gup.

Meanwhile, the tshogpa admitted that he went out of the chiwog for a month without informing anybody. He said in his absence, the people led by the Mangmi had a meeting and forwarded the matter to the Gewog Tshogde.

He added that he had appealed to the Gewog Tshogde and assured that he will perform his duties without fail but the appeal got rejected.

Meanwhile, the Dzongkhag Election Officer is yet to receive the letter from the Gewog. He said, if the tshogpa is terminated, a new one will have to be elected within a month.
