His Majesty celebrates Birth Anniversary in Punakha

His Majesty's Birth Anniversary Celebrations- PunakhaHis Majesty the King celebrated his 34th Birth Anniversary in Punakha. Scores of people from Punakha and Laya gathered at Thangzona, next to the magnificent Puna Dewachen Phodrang Dzong to be part of the event.

His Majesty was received at the Punakha Dzong by His Holiness the Je Khenpo in the morning. His Holiness offered Ku Sung Thukten Mendrel to His Majesty.

His Majesty then visited the sacred Marchen Lhakhang of the Dzong to offer prayers. His Majesty also lit a butter lamp before the Zhabdrung Thongdroel in the courtyard of the Dzong

Members of the Zhung Dratshang, Ministers, Government Officials, and representatives of the people were gathered at the courtyard to offer their wishes to His Majesty.

A game of archery and cultural programmes were held at Thangzona. His Majesty spent the day meeting and talking to the people who were there to offer their wishes to His Majesty.

His Majesty also granted a tokha to the people.

In the evening, His Majesty was received at the Lingkana Palace in Thimphu by representatives of the Taxi Drivers Association, Desuups, and youth groups who offered His Majesty a cake and offered their wishes for His Majesty’s Birth Anniversary.

Meanwhile, people around the country also observed the Birth Anniversary of His Majesty.
