The Bhutanese delegation led by the foreign minister, Rinzin Dorje, is in New York attending the 68th Regular Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
A release from the foreign ministry says the 68th session of the UNGA will serve as a prelude to the start of intergovernmental negotiations on the Post 2015 Development Agenda, including the next set of global development goals.
The Foreign Minister will participate in the General Debate of the Session, and is scheduled to address the Assembly on September 30, 2013.
While in New york, Lyonpo will participate in a number of parallel high level events conducted under the aegis of the UN including, the General Assembly’s special Event on Achievement of the MDGs among others.
Lyonpo is also scheduled to participate in the UN Treaty signing Event to deposit the Royal Government’s instrument of Ratification/Accession to the Nagoya Protocol to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
