Bhutan’s Team One men’s pair has advanced to the semi-finals of the CAVA Beach Volleyball Tour Bhutan Open 2026 after a thrilling comeback win over Uzbekistan at Changlimithang today. However, Bhutan’s women’s Team One pair has been knocked out in the quarter-finals.
Jurme Rangdal and Tshering Dorji have advanced to the semi-finals of the beach Volleyball tournament. The Bhutanese pair came from behind to defeat Uzbekistan in the quarter-finals today.
“We lost the first set, but we gave our best and did not lose hope. We won the second and third sets and advanced to the semi-finals. We are playing the semi-finals tomorrow, and we urge everyone to come and support us,” said Jurme Rangdal, Player, CAVA Beach Volleyball Tour.
“After losing the first set, they fought back and won the match. They maintained their momentum, stayed focused and did not take pressure. They played well according to our plan and tactics, and everything worked well,” said Tandin Wangchuk, Head Coach, Men’s Team, CAVA Beach Volleyball Tour.
Bhutan’s Team Two pair, Gyeltshen and Drukpa, also lost in straight sets to India’s Barath and Rajesh. Meanwhile, Team Three pair, Kinley Tenzin and Kinley Wangchuk, also suffered a 2–1 defeat to Bangladesh. The Bhutanese pair won the opening set, but Bangladesh fought back to take the second and the third set.
With these results, Bhutan’s men’s Team Two and Three are out of the competition.
Meanwhile, Bhutan’s women’s Team One pair was knocked out in the quarter-finals after losing in straight sets to Nepal today. The pair had earlier lost to Bangladesh in straight sets. With this, all three of Bhutan’s women’s teams are out of the competition.
