Another door opened at ChoeGo GMC today, bringing more life into one of Gelephu Mindfulness City’s first operational spaces. Coinciding with Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen’s Birthday, the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation officially opened its office in the building, becoming one of the latest organisations to establish its presence at the emerging hub.
With this move, BTFEC begins working from GMC in close collaboration with Bhutan’s leading environmental organisations and conservation partners, including WWF Bhutan, the Bhutan Foundation, the Royal Society for Protection of Nature, and other national and international agencies.
The organisation says its presence at GMC will go beyond office operations, focusing on long-term conservation financing, coordination support, and strengthening environmental planning across development projects in the city.
From this base, BTFEC will support a wide range of work from biodiversity conservation and watershed management to climate resilience, ecological connectivity, and green infrastructure planning. Several initiatives are already being supported within the GMC landscape, including conservation work in Phibsoo Wildlife Sanctuary, improvement of ranger facilities, restoration of ecological corridors, and promotion of sustainable and regenerative development approaches.
Dr Karma Tshering, Managing Director of BTFEC said, “We have already been involved in a lot of programs associated with GMC. We are so happy to be engaged and integrated with GMC, so we can try to support a lot of the environmental issues within GMC.”
The Trust Fund is not alone. A growing number of domestic and international firms have also begun taking up office space at ChoeGo GMC, including BIG, MQDC, Terrama and DK Bank. As of today, around ten organisations have confirmed their occupancy, while several others are expected to move in over the coming months.
Designed as a multi-purpose facility, ChoeGo GMC houses an immersive Experience Centre and cafés on the ground floor, innovation hubs for Pelsung on the first floor, co-living hotel rooms and a gym on the upper levels, as well as international-standard office spaces and meeting facilities, positioning it as a growing hub for businesses, investors and partners in Gelephu Mindfulness City.
