As the Gelephu Mindfulness City takes shape, a series of development activities is unfolding in the neighbouring districts as well. In Tsirang, Damphu town is undergoing infrastructure and urban upgrades. The development initiative will support the town’s growing visitors as it serves as a gateway to the Gelephu Mindfulness City, besides benefiting its residents.
Come rain or shine, passengers and taxi drivers in Damphu town have to wait at the taxi stand, without any shelter.
They will no longer have to bear such burdens.
A canopy is being constructed in the area as part of the town development project.
Being built at a cost of more than Nu 1.6 M, its construction is nearing completion.
“We do not have the facility to take shelter from the sun or rain. When it rains, we take shelter inside cars and use umbrellas to protect ourselves from the rain. It was inconvenient. Upon our request, Tsirang Dzongda supported us with this canopy,” said Thubchen Dorji, a taxi representative of Tsirang.
For those seeking recreational space, a rock garden is coming up near the Damphu hospital.
The children’s park located within the Rigsum Pemai Dumra also wears a new look today. The recent renovation has made the facility safer for young visitors.
The town’s internal roads have also been improved recently, helping ease traffic flow for commuters and residents.
These development activities in the town will not only benefit people of Tsirang but also enhance the experience of increasing commuters travelling to and from the Gelephu Mindfulness City.
