Vehicle owners in Tsirang can look forward to accessing automobile workshop services from a single location. Currently, the workshops are scattered across different areas, often raising safety concerns.
At present, Tsirang has five automobile workshops, all operating from different locations across Damphu town.
Among them, two workshops located near the police station are set to have their 10-year lease agreements expire this month. These workshops will be relocated to a new site.
Other workshop owners are also preparing for relocation.
The current scattered locations have raised safety concerns and appear untidy, especially as some are situated close to the main Damphu town area.
To address these issues, a new site has been identified just below the highway on state land under Damphu’s Local Area Plan II. Construction of the workshops is expected to begin soon.
Automobile workshop owners say the new location will be more convenient for both service providers and customers.
Rohit Prasad, Owner, Automobile Workshop, Tsirang said, “Earlier, we were providing services in open spaces. However, the new workshops will have proper concrete structures with proper walls and drainage systems. We will be also installing ETP systems (Effluent Treatment Plants).”
Beyond infrastructure improvements, workshop owners say the new arrangement will make it easier for government agencies to monitor the workshops.
Rohit Prasad said, “Operating the automobile workshops from the same location will help collaborate ourselves and make it easier for government agencies during inspections. Moreover, it will also provide more employment opportunities. That is why we have decided to provide services from one place.”
The initiative is expected to enhance safety, improve service delivery, and create better working conditions for workshop owners in Tsirang.
