The Dorji Lopen of the Zhung Dratshang conferred Dhar to three newly appointed Lams and a Vice Principal at Punakha Dzong this morning.

35-year-old Sonam Tashi from Naja in Paro has been appointed as the new Lam of Tamidamchhu-Thambji at Toewang Gewog in Punakha. He joined the monk body at the age of 13 and graduated from Tango Buddhist University. He also received teachings from several revered religious masters and completed his three-year retreat at Tango Nyeden Gatshel Meditation Centre in Thimphu. Prior to the present post, he served as a Programme Officer at the Human Resources Commission of the Zhung Dratshang.

Chhador Wangdi from Gase Tshogom Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang is the new Vice Principal of Selung Goenzin Dratshang in Paro. He enrolled in the monk body at the age of 14 and completed his studies from the Khothangkha Rinchenling Shedra and the Dzongsar Shedra in India. He served as an education counsellor at the same Dratshang before the present post.

38-year-old Pema from Kabisa Gewog in Punakha has been appointed as the new Lam of Pasakha Ugyen Dorji Chhoekhorling Goenzin Dratshang in Chhukha. He joined the monk body at Dechenphodrang Monastic School at a young age and graduated from Tango Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University. He also received teachings from several revered religious masters and completed his three-year retreat from Lhadzong Tashigang Goenpa in Thimphu. He served as a lecturer at Selung Goenzin Dratshang in Paro before the present post.

Tshering Dorji from Dogar Gewog in Paro is the new Lam of Selung Goenzin Dratshang in Paro. He joined the monk body in 2003 and graduated from Tango Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University in Thimphu. He also received teachings from several revered religious masters and served as a lecturer at the same monastery prior to his present post.
