A new wellness product made in Malaysia is using all the ingredients exported from Bhutan. The product, “Beaubelle Wholistic Plus – Age Joyfully,” will use Ganoderma mushroom and other local ingredients supplied by the Menjong Sorig Pharmaceuticals Corporation of Bhutan. The product was launched in Malaysia yesterday.
The Menjong Sorig Pharmaceuticals procured nearly 38 kilogrammes of Ganoderma mushroom from farmers of Gasa and Punakha. The mushroom is grown in greenhouses.
Farmers earned about Nu 3,000 per kilogramme.
The cultivation of the mushroom was supported by the National Mushroom Centre with financial aid from Bhutan For Life.
Besides the mushroom, the Menjong Sorig is also supplying yellow turmeric, ginger, black turmeric, and black pepper, all sourced from Bhutan. The Beaubelle Asia-Pacific in Malaysia will be using these products in the wellness product.
Officials said the wellness product is designed to be mixed with water and consumed as a drink. It is said to be rich in antioxidants, protects cells, support digestion and joint health, and improves skin.
Tshering Tenzin, the chief executive officer of the Menjong Sorig Pharmaceuticals Corporation said, “Through the support of the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives, we have been able to collaborate with Beaubelle Company. As many farmers face challenges in selling their produce, this partnership provides an excellent platform for market access. I am hopeful that we can now begin supplying Ganoderma mushroom to Beaubelle. With many growers in the country, I believe this initiative will greatly support them in marketing and selling their produce.”
Sangay Thinley, the chief agriculture marketing officer at the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives said, “Today, as we display this product, I hope it will be of great benefit to farmers, especially those cultivating Ganoderma mushrooms. From now on, Menjong Sorig will purchase mushrooms directly from the farmers and make them available here. I believe this initiative will be beneficial for everyone involved.”
Ruby Siah, the managing director of Beaubelle Asia-Pacific, Malaysia said, “Today we just had the launch of Beaubelle Lumina and one of the products is Wholistic Plus from Bhutan. It is very natural, authentic and organic product, which I am very impressed.”
Officials said the partnership creates a sustainable market for Bhutanese farmers and positions Bhutan’s natural, organic produce on the international stage.
