In today’s digital age, moving away from traditional classroom teaching methods seems inevitable. In Pema Gatshel’s Shumar Gewog, four schools have taken a significant step forward by introducing interactive smart boards, transforming the teaching and learning experience with support from the gewog administration.

The four schools in Shumar Gewog are the first ones to be equipped with interactive smart boards in Pema Gatshel.

These boards are connected to the internet and come with pre-installed educational software, allowing teachers to deliver lessons that integrate videos, animations, and interactive quizzes.

Shumar PS’s Principal, Sangay Lhundrup said, “Now they can just browse the internet, get the teaching materials and use this interactive board and teach the students.”

Yalang PS’s Principal, Tshering Norbu said, “Now, in this digital world, they have to use these modern facilities in order to upgrade the skills and knowledge about ICT.”

The principals say students are showing increased engagement and often describe the lessons as more fun and easier to understand.

Teachers are also receiving training to fully utilise the capabilities of the smart boards.

Shumar Gup Sonam Dhendup said, “We hope that the board we have provided them will be fully utilised. And we assure that this facility will help them to compete in this technology-driven world.”

The Sumar Gewog Administration spent nearly Nu 600,000 to procure seven interactive boards for the schools. By prioritising such initiatives, the gewog administration said they are committed to helping students leverage technology.
