Finance Minister Lekey Dorji said that only a couple of highland villages in Haa are eligible for land tax concession according to the list identified by the Haa District Administration. The minister was responding to Bji_Kar-Tshog_Uesu MP’s question in the National Assembly today on why all highland communities in Haa are not given the concession.

The 2022 Property Tax gives highland communities in the country up to 90 per cent concession on land tax.

“Before the implementation of the Act, the Ministry of Finance provided the list of highland communities to the district administrations. According to the criteria, only six villages in Haa qualify as highland communities, which is why they did not receive the 90 per cent concession. There is an option to review the list and add additional areas in the Haa District under the highland community classification. People should write to the finance ministry for consideration,” said the Minister.
