Seven Bhutanese runners have been selected to compete in the second edition of the Snowman Race, one of the world’s toughest ultramarathons. This year’s race will see 18 national and international runners attempting the 203-kilometer course.

Seven Bhutanese runners were chosen through a tough two-phase selection process.

From the highland communities, Pema Choki, Karma Yangdon, and Leki have been selected while Tshering Lhamo, Samten Dema, Tashi Norbu, and Sangay Wangchuk qualified through the Trans Bhutan Trail selection race held earlier this month.

They will face off against 11 international runners, including elite ultra-marathoners like Luke Nelson from the United States, Tom Evans from the United Kingdom, and Rosanna Buchauer from Germany.

The race will take place at an average elevation of 4,500 meters above sea level, with the highest point at over 5,400 meters where runners have to conquer Gophu La.

The five-day Snowman Race will start on October 24 and go on till October 28.
