Commemorating the 34th birthday of Her Majesty Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck, His Royal Highness Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck inaugurated the Kaja Throm in Gyalpozhing of Monggar, today. It is the first Kaja Throm in the east.

The Kaja Throm is located at the heart of the Gyalpozhing town. It comprises of five structures including food and drink stalls, an entertainment stage, and two other open stalls.

His Royal Highness the Gyaltshab visited the throm and interacted with the people.

Besides recreation, the Kaja Throm will provide a space for the farmers to sell their local produce.

“The opening of the Kaja Throm will benefit us. Without a facility like this, our vegetables used to get damaged in the sun and rain. We are grateful to have a throm like this,” said Jigme Loday, a farmer.

“The Kaja Throm was constructed under the guidance of His Royal Highness the Gyaltshab. It will immensely benefit us. We will see artists from other places come here to perform. So far, we did not have a proper stage. Now, we have the Kaja Throm with a stage. Shopkeepers like me will reap benefits when there are shows being held at the throm,” said Kinzang Tshering, a shopkeeper.

To mark the Kaja Throm opening, the public and students from nearby schools performed cultural programme and offered Tshogchhang.

Towards the evening, entertainment programme was also showcased on the newly completed stage.

The office of His Royal Highness the Gyaltshab constructed the Kaja Throm upon royal command.
