During His Majesty’s birthday celebration at the Changlimithang today, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay emphasised the need for collective effort and the importance of consistent monitoring for efficient public service delivery. Lyonchhen also shared the government’s plans for the next year to improve public services.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister shared the story of Tshering Jamyang, who, inspired by His Majesty’s address returned to Bhutan after living 16 years abroad.

However, the bureaucratic hurdles of having to visit one office to another in constructing a house disheartened him and forced him to leave again.

Citing the example, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of efficient public service delivery and outlined the three main areas that the government aims to prioritise going forward.

“For a year, we have recognised three main areas to focus on for nation-building, and they are to conduct meetings on time, carry out required follow-ups, and prioritise quality public service delivery.”

Furthermore, the Prime Minister highlighted the significance of holding meetings on time and following up on resolutions afterwards.

“After conducting meetings, if we do not carry out timely follow up then we can never effectively build our nation. If we want to take nation-building seriously we must take monitoring and following up decisions very seriously.”

Various schools in the capital came together to mark the 44th birthday celebrations of His Majesty The King.

Students presented a parade, followed by cultural performances and felicitation messages to His Majesty The King.
