The nationwide lucky draw which was initiated in 2020 to make the National Day celebrations special amid the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions was made extra special this year. Unlike the past few years, the lucky draw for the 116th National Day celebrations involved Bhutanese residing abroad as well with winners given attractive prizes ranging from vehicles, and mobile phones to ghos and kiras. While the winners of the nationwide lucky draw and the attendees at the Changlimithang stadium took home their prizes, the winners of the lucky draw for Bhutanese abroad have yet to be declared. More than 264,000 Bhutanese participated in the nationwide lucky draw and around 1,500 Bhutanese living abroad registered for the overseas National Day lucky draw.
