The Samtse District Court has dismissed a case involving Kencho Wangdi, the coordinator of the 2022 Druk Super Star Archery Championship, accused of altering the runners-up prize from an electric scooter to a bow. The court found that both the player and the organiser were well aware about the prize change for the tournament held last year. Evidence of communication was presented to the court during the trial. The verdict was passed yesterday.

The evidence presented included Telegram messages wherein the player acknowledged and accepted the alteration. Additionally, a BBS live programme conducted before the tournament’s finals also revealed that discussions about the changes in prizes had taken place among the team and the organiser.

Also, the court noted that the player did not have substantial evidence to prove that the organiser had made a last-minute alteration to the prizes.

The verdict also states that the organiser had not initially specified the second prize but informed the teams that its worth could be in the range of Nu 90,000 to 100,000. The court emphasised that the Prime bow, awarded to the runners-up, was valued at Nu 95,000, fulfilling the promised prize range.
