With the limited number of hotels catering to tourists, Farm House or Home Stay is becoming popular in Haa. This has not only provided the local community avenues for livelihood and business but also for tourists to experience a homely rural environment.
Our reporter, Chimi Dorji, who had been to Haa recently says that most of the people in Haa are refurbishing their homes to turn it into farm house or home stay.
Some of the tourists said that such houses provide to experience typical Bhutanese life. “In hotels and resorts, everything is organised and timed. Here you can feel the warmth of the hosts and also see for yourself the traditional lifestyle,” said one of the tourists.
Rural households engaged in running farm houses are hoping to do a brisk business. There are very few hotels in Haa that offer accommodation to tourists. And this they say would work in favour of farm houses and home stays.
