The country is short of over 150 early childhood care and development facilitators, which has left 132 ECCD centres vacant as of now. To help address the ECCD facilitator shortage, the Ministry of Education and Skills Development has submitted four proposals to the Royal Civil Service Commission. Talking to the members of the media during the 50th meet the press session, yesterday, minister Jai Bir Rai said that the ministry plans to re-deploy the existing ECCD facilitators, allow non-formal education instructors to facilitate in ECCD centres, and recruit additional facilitators soon. The minister added that they are in talks with the RCSC regarding recruitment of new facilitators.
