From 3D printing, and workshops to live music and food stalls, a host of activities are open for the public at TechPark in Thimphu. All these are a part of the Innotech interactive exhibition which is being held as a part of the national day build-up programme. The five-day exhibition began yesterday. The first day saw a good turnout with more than 300 visitors.

One of the stalls at the exhibition is the display of cycles made by DeSuups who were trained at the DeSuung Skilling Programme. Another stall displays daggers and blades made by the DeSuups.

There are also several food stalls which offer different food items ranging from fast food meals to packaged indigenous food products.

The BPC also has a stall in which they are displaying their unidirectional converter that provides alternate or backup power by drawing electricity from the battery of an electric vehicle. It was one of the winning models at last year’s TechHack competition.

“I am happy to be representing Bhutan Power Corporation with the Model EV2X. It is basically to show our alternative power backup,” said Kencho Pema Wangden.

The DHI is also conducting 2-hour workshops every day on 3D printing, sticker making and laser cutting for interested participants in the afternoons. Each day around 30 people are selected on a first come first basis each day.

A dozen stalls have been set up focusing on youth, technology and entrepreneurship.

“After a long period of suffering with Covid, and a lot of setbacks, this is our time to kind of reinvigorate ourselves and think about how we are going to move towards the future,” said Pema Wangchug, a Senior Analyst at DHI’s Innotech Department.

There are also free shuttle bus services being provided to the public between Changlimithang and the Techpark.
