The Dorji Lopen of the Central Monastic Body consecrated the installation of a Buddhist relic called Tharpai Sa Ben ghi Zhingkoed at Kuenselphodrang in Thimphu today. It is a plaque carved with images of great saints. Earlier in the morning, the Dorji Lopen also administered Wang and Lung to more than a thousand devotees gathered at the site.

The 3.5 feet long gold-plated Tharpai Sa Ben ghi Zhingkoed is sculpted with images of His Holiness the Je Khenpo, Zhabdrung, Buddha, Chenrai Zi and Guru Rinpoche.

A WeChat group of about 7,000 members contributed about Nu 500,000 to procure the artefact. The installation of the relic is for the well-being of all sentient beings.

‘‘When the passersby come across the relic and read the scripture, it will give them positive energy. His Holiness the Je Khenpo in his Ka-thri said people are not really into it these days. That’s why a group of us initiated and procured the artefact,’’ said Thinley Tshering, Secretary of Tharpai Sa Ben.

The members of the WeChat group plan to start a similar project in other districts as well.
