HH Je Khenpo appoints Tshogki Lopen and two lams

His Holiness the Je Khenpo conferred Tashi Lekdhar to appoint the Tshogki Lopen of the Zhung Dratshang at the Tashichhodzong today. His Holiness also appointed lams for two community lhakhangs, one each in Punakha and Chhukha.

Khenpo Sangay Khandu is appointed as the new Tshogki Lopen today. Prior to the current appointment, he served as the principal of the Institute of Science of Mind at Semtokha in Thimphu.

He was ordained as a monk from a young age at the Wangdue Phodrang Rabdey. He engaged in the practice of mask dancing, Mandala drawing, metrics chantings, and listening, contemplating, and practising extensively.

Thirty-five-year-old Lam Namgay from Talo, Punakha is appointed as the Community Service Lam of Khuruthang town. He joined monkhood at the age of 12 and completed Rigzhung studies from the Tango Buddhist University.

And 38-year-old Lam Yonten Jamtsho from Wolakha in Punakha is appointed as the lam of Shema Lhakhang at Chapcha in Chhukha. He joined the monk body at the age of seven and was engaged in the practice of mask dancing, mandala drawing, and metrics chanting.

He also completed the three-year retreat at Chari monastery. He was serving as the Da Dey Zhu Chung of the Central Monastic Body prior to the current appointment.
