Nearly 600 students and staff in Sarpang and Samtse tested positive for COVID today. They were tested after completing the board exams on Saturday. The schools have been functioning in containment mode.

431 students and staff tested positive for COVID in Sarpang today. The students will have to continue to spend their time in the schools for ten more days.

Students and staff in Gelephu Middle Secondary School, Losel Gyatsho Academy, Gelephu Higher Secondary School, Sarpang Central School, Gelephu Lower Secondary School and Sarpang Middle Secondary School tested positive for COVID. The class ten students of Gelephu Higher Secondary School are in the Gelephu lower secondary school.

All positive and primary contacts will be isolated and managed inside the schools. Officials said the test results were delayed due to the large size of the samples and the high positivity rate.

There were 14 schools under containment mode in Sarpang. Except for these six schools, no cases were detected in other schools.

Similarly, 122 Gomtu Higher Secondary School students and staff tested positive for COVID in Dorokha, Samtse today.

According to the principal, all who tested positive are in stable condition with no complications. The school in containment recorded the first case in a female student last month.

Likewise, Samtse Higher Secondary School also recorded 40 positive cases. The school has been functioning from the Samtse College of Education.
