Upon the command of His Majesty the King, the Prime Minister said separate helicopter services will be established in Monggar and Gelephu. There is also a plan to buy a new helicopter. But since that is going to take about two years, a helicopter will be hired soon.

This is being done to provide prompt medical attention for people in the east and the south. Often, the helicopters in Paro are not able to airlift patients from these areas due to bad weather conditions.

The Royal Bhutan Helicopter Services has two choppers. More than 100 patients were airlifted to hospitals last year saving many precious lives.
