The National Highland Research and Development Centre (NHRDC) in Bumthang handed over two breeding bulls and a female yak to the people of Laya Gewog on Thursday at Tang. This is the very first time the centre is distributing yaks to highland communities in the country since it was established in 2016.

This is particularly significant as it is the people who put the requisition for the yaks against the backdrop of growing concern over declining yak herding practice in the country.
