Gelegphu Thromde grants two months extension to some plot owners who are not able to pay lease payment for using land at Industrial Service Centre (ISC). They can also pay in instalments if the amount is big.

It was decided during the recent coordination meeting between the thromde and plot owners.

A total of 18 Lessees have not paid their monthly rent to Gelegphu Thromde. As per the lease contract agreement, any individual defaulting rental fees for more than two months could lead to a possible cancellation of the agreement. But some have not paid for 12 months.

“Lessees who have defaulted on payments were given two more months time extension. I within my capacity requested the administration at least those who have more months to pay might be granted to pay on an instalment basis,” said Kamal Pradhan, the General Secretary for ISC at Gelegphu.

However, the Gelegphu Thrompon said a majority of the defaulters did not come to attend the meeting and only a few came forward for a time extension. He said a notice would be served to all the defaulters to pay their rental fees within two months and those who could not clear within two months could pay their rental fees on instalments basis but should imitate with Thromde Administration.

“So today’s meeting on this payment, we have decided we will notify them to come to us and pay within two months time. We have even given the option if they have a long period of time which they have not paid, they could pay on instalments but they should intimate,” said Tikaram Kafley, the Thrompon of Gelegphu Thromde.

The Thromde initially allotted 103 plots. They have cancelled 10 plots for not initiating developmental activities in their plots despite several extension time and 9 plots have been surrendered. At present, there is a  total of 84 plot holders.

Thromde charge Nu. 4 for per square feet. Plots size ranges starting from 30 to 80 decimals.
