To motivate students for better academic performance and provide a nutritious meal, in the 23rd session of the National Assembly on 11th June 2019, the House passed the motion on stipend raise for college students. The recommended raise is from Nu 1500 to 2500.

Though the National Assembly unanimously agreed on the increase of stipend for the college students under the Royal University of Bhutan, students say they are getting the same amount of stipend irrespective of the motion on the increase.

The officials from Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) said that they didn’t receive the budget for the increase of the stipend for the college students and they are waiting for the approval of budget from the Ministry of Finance.

Meanwhile, the focal person for the RUB said that they have done all the calculations and submitted to the Cabinet and they are waiting for the approval from the cabinet.
