One student died and another missing in Mochhu

A boy student of Rinchen Higher Secondary School in Thimphu died after he was washed away by the Mochhu River in Punakha this afternoon. Another boy is still missing. 

According to sources, the students were picnicking in Dzomlingthang. Four students (three boys and a girl) were washed away by the Mochhu while crossing a part of Mochhu to reach an island.  A guide with Lotus Rafting was reported to be washed away while trying to save the students. However, the girl and a boy was rescued by the guide and they are currently in the Punakha hospital under observation. The body of one of the boys was retrieved from the river by Lotus Rafting and police. Desuups, Police and Lotus Rafting are searching for the other missing student.

26 class eleven students of Rinchen HSS, Thimphu came for a picnic at Dzomlingthang.
