The Gross National Happiness Commission (GNHC) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Bhutan office signed a Grant Aid Agreement for Human Resource Development Scholarship to develop human resources in various field in the country today.
The project worth Nu 110 M will be implemented by the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) over a period of four years starting this year.
The full scholarship program will provide an opportunity for public servants to take up Masters and Doctoral programme in universities in Japan. The Japanese government will offer 40 postgraduate slots in various fields. Of which 36 will be for Masters Degree and four slots for PhD in Economics.
The first batch of 10 will leave in August and September this year. For scholarship courses, the RCSC has identified agricultural and rural development, industrial foundation development, infrastructural development for sustainable economic growth and countermeasures for climate change and disaster risk management.
The Exchange of Note between the ambassadors of Bhutan and Japan was signed yesterday in New Delhi.
