Having failed to secure a minimum of 10 per cent of the total votes, Bhutan Kuen-Nyam Party (BKP)  will not be entitled to the State Funding in the 2023 elections.

BKP received 28,473 votes, which is 9.78 per cent of the total votes from 47 constituencies.

However, BKP is optimistic to contest in 2023 elections

“Having state funding for the campaign period and having no state funding doesn’t really matter for Bhutan Kuen-Nyam Party. For BKP what really matters is the genuine, sincere motivation to serve the Tsa -Wa-Sum,” Sonam Tobgay, the Vice President of the party, said.

“Indeed, it will be a very difficult battle without state funding but we will work from today onwards in terms of how best we prepare both the funding for candidates and manifestoes.”

The party also believes they have ample of time to look for supporters and mobilize the funds for the next election.

“When there is a commitment, when there are dedication and sincerity there should some action plans in terms of how best we will mobilize funds for the upcoming elections,” Sonam Tobgay said.

“We will start looking for supporters, people who believe in our party. And we have five years and undoubtedly the BKP will come back to contest in the next elections.”

The Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) has provided over Nu 28 M to four political parties for the primary round election campaign.
