Usually, discotheques and night clubs remain filled with people in western outfits. People in Gho and Kira- the National dress are a rare sight. However, a night club-owner in Lobesa organised a disco, where he encouraged people to come in Gho and Kira.

Our reporter Sonam Ugyen saw for the first time, a discotheque filled with people in Gho and Kira and having fun at the same time.

He says that it was a proud moment for the owner of the local club. “May be partying in Gho and Kira is once in a while event. I am not quite sure,” our reporter adds.

People dancing to the tune of Bhutanese music looked quite natural and fun. Normally Bhutanese disco goers move, shake and scream to the rhythm of Bollywood and western music and tracks from other countries.

Business seem normal with people continue to wine and dance. It didn’t stop people to tap their feet on the ground and node their head to the music even while getting fresh air outside.

The owner of this club promised he will continue to organise such events.  But will Bhutanese disco freaks continue to go to party in national dress- only time will tell?
