A forest fire in Jarey Gewog, Lhuentse has destroyed over 500 acres of forests in the past two days. It is still raging on. The Beat Officer says the area encompasses parts of Thrumsingla National Park in Ura, Bumthang.

He told BBS, that people from Gorgan, Jarey and forestry officials are still trying to control the fire. The fire fighters returned home late Wednesday evening.

Strong winds is said to be fueling the fire. Rugged terrain is also hindering efforts to contain the fire.
