Windstorm knocks roofs off 13 houses in Samdrup Jongkhar

Heavy windstorm on April 25 has ripped roofs off six homes in Pemathang Gewog.

Likewise, roofs of another six houses in Orong and Langchenphu gewogs were blown off. The windstorm also blew off a roof of one house in Martshala Gewog.

Dzongkhag officials said all these houses are insured with Royal Insurance Corporation Branch Office in the district.

The windstorm destroyed about 5.28 acres of maize fields and killed one cattle in Orong Gewog. Also in Langchenphu Gewog, the windstorm damaged almost an acre of maize and about 110 areca nut trees.

However, no casualties have been reported. Respective gewog administration offices and the dzongkhag disaster team have provided necessary assistance.
