Bhutan Narcotics Control Authority (BNCA) and customs officials at Paro International Airport recently sensitised incoming passengers about declaration of tobacco products.
BNCA officials informed the passengers that a person can bring in 800 sticks of cigarettes and around 1,000 pieces of Beedi in a month. But, they must be declared.
Tobacco products bought from India is taxed 100 per cent and the same from the third countries are taxed 200 per cent. Air travellers were also advised that possession of controlled substances is restricted.
The BNCA, upon suspecting people on carrying controlled drugs and tobacco products, and with a search warrant, will conduct a surprise inspection any time at the airport.
