The Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) presented its rebuttal against an aspiring political party, Druk Gaki Tshogpa (DCT) to the High Court yesterday.

In its rebuttal, the ECB said: “They rejected the party’s application seeking to register as the political party because the party doesn’t have potential candidates for half of the 47 constituencies.”

The commission also rebutted that the aspiring political party has no candidates with an experience of leading a government or public offices or an established business.

The High Court will pass the judgment after thorough scrutiny of views from both the parties.

On March 24, this year, the President of DGT, Chheku Dukpa appealed the High Court against ECB’s decision to deny application for registration of his party.
