His Majesty The King appoints Dzongdas, Secretary and Commissioner

His Majesty The King granted Dhar to newly appointed Dzongdas of Thimphu and Bumthang, and the Secretary of works and human settlement ministry and ACC Commissioner, yesterday.

The new Thimphu Dzongda is Dorji Tshering, who was previously the Director of the Department of Occupational Standards with labour ministry.

Passang Dorji, the former Executive Secretary of Thimphu Thromde, has been appointed as Bumthang Dzongda.

Chencho Norbu, former Secretary of the National Environment Commission is now the Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Human Settlement.

Former Tsirang Dzongda Ngawang Pem has been appointed as Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

In accordance with Article 2.19 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bhutan, His Majesty The King appoints Secretaries and Dzongdags on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister obtains nominations from the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) on the basis of merit and seniority, and in accordance with other relevant rules and regulations.

The commissioners are appointed by His Majesty The King from a list of names recommended jointly by the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice, the Speaker, the Chairperson of National Council and the Leader of the Opposition Party.
