Trongsa Rabdey leaves for summer residence in Bumthang

Led by Lam Neten, the Trongsa Rabdey left for their summer residence in Bumthang today.

Along the Trongsa-Bumthang highway, a large number of devotees gathered to receive blessings from a sacred statue of Zhabdrung Khamsum Si-noeth and other relics.

This tradition was instituted some 400 years ago by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel.

Similarly, the Gelegphu Rabdey led by Lam Neten left for their summer residence in Jigmechholing Rabdey yesterday.

Hundreds of devotees lined along the way to receive blessings from sacred relics and nangtens such as Zhabdrung Khamsum Zilnon, Tshe pamai, and Jetsen dem statues.

Although, this tradition dates back to early 17th century, the time of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, the Gelegphu Rabdey introduced it in 1998.
