Paro Tshechu begins

The five-day annual Paro Tshechu began today with blessings from the scared cymbal, which is one of the oldest relics in Paro Dzong.

The first day of the tshechu is performed inside the dzong. It attracted quite a huge crowd of spectators including tourists.

As is the custom, the tshechu will take place at Deyyankha courtyard from tomorrow.

Paro Tshechu is one of the most popular festivals in the country. It attracts thousands of spectators including tourists from all over the world.

The last day of the tshechu is the major attraction with people making their way to the tshechu ground in droves before dawn to catch a glimpse of the massive Guru Thongdrol that is unfurled for public veneration.
