During the finals of the first-ever Pepsi B-league championship, team Taras defeated team B ballers in the women’s category. Similarly, team Nordics fell to Delinquents 91-98 in the men’s finals, played in the swimming pool indoor court in Thimphu, yesterday.

After being defeated by the team B ballers in the earlier group stages, Team Taras went on to face Team B ballers, yet again. Determined to win the final game, team Taras quick fired several successful shots to dominate the first quarter. By the mid of the first quarter, B ballers were down by 4 baskets.

However, Pema Choki, the captain of team B ballers brought the team back to the game as she successfully converted few vital shots in the game. By the end of the two quarters, the difference was reduced to 2 baskets. Yet, the possibility and the hope to come back in the game faded away as Yeshey Om of Taras netted in two perfect three pointers. At the same time, Nyima Seldon Dorji stood very strong and tall in the defensive line. At the end, the game finished 55-32 in favor of Taras.

In the men’s final, team Delinquents and team Nordics started the first quarter with quick counter attacks. Delinquents lead the first quarter with 1 basket. Second quarter was also no different than the first as both teams gave their best and showed no signs of giving up. The game continued to be indecisive, until the start of third quarter. With the three baskets lead, Delinquents started to control the game.

At the end, team Delinquents defeated team Nordics with the score of 91-98. For now both the teams have been qualified for the Pepsi A-league championship.

A total of 38 men’s team and 6 women’s team from across the country took part in the championship. Winners and runners-up were awarded with the cash prizes and trophies respectively.
