Farm roads are considered very crucial for farmers toward meeting the goal of self-sufficiency. The farmers can easily market their local produce, without having to carry on their backs for hours.

In Dungkarling under Bhur Geog in Sarpang farmers were happy to get a new farm road this year. But much to the dismay of the farmers the newly constructed was heavily damaged by recent heavy downpour at several locations.

This farm road was barely three months old. The 3.5 Kilometre brought joy and happiness to the farmers of Dunkarling under Bhur Geog in Sarpang.

“We the people of Dungkarling mostly depend on Orange for our livelihood. If the monsoon had not damaged our farm road, it would have immensely benefited us especially during mandarin season. Without farm road, we have to carry our farm produce. It is the difficult,” said Mangal Tamang, one of the farmers.

According to the Officiating Gup, Karma Tshering, the farm road was handed over to the people only recently. It was constructed at the cost of Nu. 1 million. Karma Tshering said that the Geog administration might need more amount to repair the road.

“It is impossible to repair by the farmers themselves. Now, I am worried how this farm road can be repaired so that it will be of benefit to the farmers,” he added.

Bhur Geog has seven Chiwogs.
